Welcome to Carlow Golf Club, one of the finest inland courses in Ireland and currently ranked 29th in Golf Digest Magazine’s 2014 listing of the “Top 100 Golf Courses in Ireland.” Our course is naturally free-draining and this excellent feature of our landscape ensures that you will find Carlow playable and in great condition no matter what time of the year you wish to visit us.

Set in the beautiful lush green countryside of the Southeast of Ireland, Carlow Golf Club has the enviable reputation of being one of the finest inland golf courses in Ireland and is one of the most stunning courses in the region. The original nine-hole club was founded in 1899 and in 1922 our 18-hole parkland course was laid out by Cecil Barcroft in a former wild deer park attached to the Bruen Estate. The layout was revised by Tom Simpson and his assistant Molly Gourlay shortly before the Second World War.
Carlow’s links-like, sandy sub-soil ensures that the course is free-draining and playable for twelve months of the year. The Deerpark Course features challenging undulating terrain, numerous elevated trees and several excellent doglegs as well as small, slick putting surfaces to test the accuracy of your short game. Water hazards on the first, second, 10th and 11th can be challenging and when you tee off from the beautifully picturesque eighth tee on a sunny day you will remember just why you took up the game of golf. There are many long par-fours and the 16th, which is played through a tunnel-like valley, has been noted by Christy O’Connor Senior as being the best 16th hole in Ireland.
Carlow Golf Club is the home of Ireland’s oldest scratch cup, the Midland Scratch Cup and through the years we have hosted many prestigious tournaments such as the 2002 Irish Close Championship and the 2018 World One-Arm Championship.
